Columbia, MD - In a game that will be remembered as much for the weather as anything, the Dragons were able to get through the stormy conditions and a weather delay to shut out the Northern Virginia Nighthawks 4-0.
It took just 15 seconds into the game for
Leonard Dunor (/Sheyenne) to be taken down inside of the box as the Dragons were awarded a penalty kick. Dunor had his initial attempt get saved, but the rebound fell to
Baraka Kagira-Kargbo (/Moorland)Â who hammered home to Howard the early lead. A second penalty kick was given to Howard just three minutes later and this time it was
Jason Fuentes (/Hammond) who put the ball on the spot and coolly finished into the top right corner of the net.
After a weather delay at halftime that lasted nearly an hour, the two teams met back on the field and
Abdoul Camara (/High Point) made it 3-0 with a beautiful through ball by Dunor to set it up.
In the 75th minute, Dunor put the game away for good as he was taken down in the box again and this time was able to put the penalty kick into the back of the net.
The Dragons will get a week to rest before hosting Harford Community College on Tuesday, September 6 at 4 PM.
