Philadelphia, PA - The Dragons went into one of the hardest gyms in the NJCAA to win at and fell just short in their upset attempt as the nationally ranked Division I powerhouse Harcum Bears prevailed 91-80.
Howard did a good job of keeping the game close in the first half, trailing by just 44-36 at halftime. An early second half surge cut the Harcum lead to five, but a huge Bears run opened the lead up to 17 midway through the second half. One last push by the Dragons cut the deficit to as little as seven, but the Bears proved sturdy enough to close the game out.
Cameron Watts (Columbia, MD/Boys Latin) led the team with 16 points including four long range buckets while
Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/Newtown) added in a big 15 point, 15 rebound game along with three blocks.
Koby Baptiste (New Carrollton, MD/Parkdale) joined in the double-double club with 13 points and 14 rebounds and
O'Meech Wilson (Glen Burnie, MD/North County) scored 10 points.
The Dragons will get back to regional play as they take on CCBC Dundalk on Wednesday, January 18 at 6 PM.
