Dragons Deflate Dundalk 88-55

Dundalk, MD – The Dragons were able to pick up a key Region 20 win as they blew past the CCBC Dundalk Lions by the score of 88-55. Howard improves to 12-4 on the year and 6-1 in regional play as they continue to increase their lead in the regional standings.

Howard scored first in the game and would never trail in the game as an early 9-0 run gave the Dragons a comfortable lead. The Dragons continued to pull away as big time dunks by Koby Baptiste (New Carrollton, MD/Parkdale) and Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) electrified the visiting team bench.

Long range shots were at a premium on the first half as the Dragons shot 0-8 from behind the arc in the opening twenty minutes. The Dragons decided to work the ball into the paint instead, as the combination of Baptiste, Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/Newtown), and Marquis Freeman (Manassas, VA/Fork Union Prep) dominated inside with the Lions struggling to find an answer as the trio combined to score 36 first half points.

The second half saw the Lions cut the lead below 20 points when they started to make their three point shots, but the Dragons continued to pound the ball inside as they finished with 56 points in the paint on the day.

Baptiste led the way with 26 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Mills scored 24 points along with a couple blocks and his front court partner Freeman recorded his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor scored nine points as the top bench scorer for the Dragons.

Howard will go back to New York as they take on #12 ranked Sullivan County on Saturday, January 21 at 2 PM. The Dragons last played Sullivan County in 2021 where the Generals were able to prevail 74-72.
