Benjamin Murphy (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) came through in the clutch for the Dragons as he led Howard to a huge upset over the #12 ranked team in the NJCAA Division II, defeating Sullivan County 80-76.
With Howard holding onto a one point lead with under two minutes remaining, Murphy sliced inside the paint and hit a midrange jump shot and was fouled, completing the three-point play which would prove to be the dagger to ensure victory.
Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/Newtown) scored 20 points along with 11 rebounds for yet another double-double for the versatile forward. Murphy finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists combined with a double-double from
Koby Baptiste (New Carrollton, MD/Parkdale) with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Marquis Freeman (Manassas, VA/Fork Union Prep) and
Ethan Wilson (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park) both chipped in double digit points with 13 and 11 respectively.
The Dragons will return to Maryland to face Prince George's on the road on Tuesday, January 24 at 7 PM.
