Loch Sheldrake, NY -
Kalani Corkeron (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) hit six long range shots for the Dragons as Howard was once again able to defeat the Sullivan County Generals 60-57.
Just 10 days separated the two games between the evenly matched teams, but Howard once again was able to emerge victorious for the second time this month.Â
The Dragons jumped out to a great start as Corkeron made a career high six shots from three point range as her 18 points fueled Howard forward. Despite leading nearly the entire game, Sullivan County was able to comeback to tie the game at 55-55 with two minutes left. A strong drive and layup by
Mikiyah Mallett (Pasadena, MD/Old Mill) gave Howard the lead back as they were able to hit enough free throws down the stretch to hold on to win.
Nhaikyia Smith (Waldorf, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) and
Julia Harrington (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore City College) both added 10 points and seven rebounds each. Mallett scored nine points in the game with
Sydnei Harmon (Largo, MD/Charles H. Flowers) also scored nine.Â
The Dragons will finally return to familiar land, playing in their first game in Maryland since December 10 when they take on Prince George's on Tuesday, January 24 at 5 PM.
