Columbia, MD - A lackluster game saw the Garrett Lakers and the Howard Dragons tie 0-0 in an important Region 20 match. The result drops Howard to fifth place in the Region 20 standings with one game left on their schedule to decide playoff seeding,

The Dragons started the game off well as early shots by Mireida Castillo (Falls Church, VA/Falls Church) and Yoselin Ortiz Cruz (Alexandria, VA/Alexandria City) tested the Lakers' goalkeeper. Melissa Villatoro (Riverdale, MD/Parkdale) had a couple of promising shots go wide while Castillo had two more shots at the 20 minute mark that nearly found the back of the net. 

Garrett built into the game and had the better of Howard in the second half, but six second half saves by Howard goalkeeper Olivia Jackson (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) helped preserve the tie for the home team on sophomore day.

Howard will next travel to Hagerstown on Thursday, October 12 for a 2 PM matinee.
