Arnold, MD -
Christian Dean (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) had a huge game off the bench for the Dragons and
Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/New Town) had a monster second half as they were able to overcome early struggles to defeat Anne Arundel 64-55.
The Dragons starters were unable to find a rhythm in the first half as Howard fell behind early and trailed for the entirety of the first half. The lone bright spot was Dean as he scored 6 points along with pulling down 7 rebounds in the first half as the Dragons trailed 29-24 at halftime.
Howard woke up in the second half as Mills led the charge offensively with 17 second half points on 8-12 shooting from the floor.
Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) got in on the action as well, scoring all 8 of his points in the second half as the Dragons dominated the paint with 42 of their 64 points coming near the basket.Â
Jordan Horne (Laurel, MD/Laurel) had a strong presence as well with 7 points and 5 rebounds along with 2 blocks.
Emanuel Henriques (Baltimore, MD/Benjamin Franklin) and
O'Meech Wilson (Glen Burnie, MD/North County) each scored 6 points to contribute offensively. Howard has now defeated Anne Arundel in 6 straight appearances with the last loss against the Riverhawks coming in 2017.
The Dragons will next travel to western Pennsylvania for a weekend doubleheader starting with Westmoreland on Saturday, December 2 at 6 PM. The two teams have only faced each other twice in the last 11 years, both of which were won by Howard. The last time the two schools met, the Dragons defeated the Wolfpack 82-78 in 2017.
