Dean Triple-Double Leads Dragons Rout Over Westmoreland

Westmoreland, PA - Christian Dean (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) put forth an impressive 20-10-10 triple double as the Dragons blasted the Westmoreland Wolfpack 114-28. The Dragons improve to 8-2 on the season and 3-0 in regional play as they are on top of the Region 20 standings.

The Dragons took control from the very beginning with a 33-3 lead in the first 8 minutes of the game. Howard decided to pull back from their super effective full court press, but continued to dominate the game as the Dragons were also able to rest several players as part of the two-game weekend trip to Pennsylvania.

Dean's performance was particularly impressive with 20 points including four made baskets from behind the three-point arc as he more than doubled his previous career high. He also managed to dish out 10 assists along with 10 rebounds for the first triple-double of the year for the Dragons.

Six Dragons scored double digit points with Zechariah Chin (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) also having a big game with 16 points on 7-11 shooting from the floor and 2-3 from long range. Colin Harshman (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) made a couple from three-point range on his way to 11 points while O'Meech Wilson (Glen Burnie, MD/North County), Jordan Horne (Laurel, MD/Laurel), and Ayyub Rabb (Columbia, MD/Atholton) all scored 10 points each. All 11 Dragons that played in the game scored at least 6 points as Trumaine Jones (Baltimore, MD/Dunbar) scored 9 followed by Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) with 8, John Thomas (Baltimore, MD/Patterson) and Arthur Roache (Washington, DC/Theodore Roosevelt) with 7 each, and Tairieky Olowu with 6.

Howard will face a stiffer test on the latter part of the weekend trip when they travel to Beaver County on Sunday, December 3 at 2 PM. The Dragons have won the last five meetings between the two teams with the last of which coming in a 74-58 blowout in Bel Air, MD in December of 2022. The last time the Beaver County Titans defeated the Dragons was in 2018 in a 90-78 win in Columbia, MD.

Beaver County is 4-5 on the season and 1-0 in regional play after an 81-71 victory over Frederick just 24 hours before the tip-off against the Dragons.
