Bel Air, MD – Thirteen different Dragons scored at least one shot from the field as a balanced effort led to a comfortable 79-52 win over the Delaware Tech Hawks. The Dragons improved to 11-3 on the season with one more game left before they go to the winter break.
Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) scored a minute into the contest as the Dragons would go on to lead the game for the next 39 minutes, building up a lead as high as 29 in the second half. Howard struggled shooting from three point range as a team, going just 3-13, but they made up for that with 46 points in the paint combined with stellar defense led by
O'Meech Wilson (Glen Burnie, MD/North County) with 12 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals while playing as the rim protector.
Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/New Town) and Taylor tied for the team lead with 13 points each followed closely by
Ryan Conway (Towson, MD/Dulaney) with 9. Wilson and
Jalen Bowie (Frederick, MD/Frederick) each scored 8 points followed by
Emanuel Henriques (Baltimore, MD/Benjamin Franklin) with 7. Howard shot 61% from the field compared to Delaware Tech's 31% with the Dragons also adding 22 fast break points.
Howard will close out their part of the Harford Hoops Invitational as well as their games in 2023 when they take on Beaver County on Saturday, December 16 at 1 PM. The two teams met back on December 3 at Beaver County in a game where Howard defeated the Titans 75-66. The Dragons have won the last six games between the two teams as Beaver County last defeated Howard in 2018.
