Columbia, MD - The Howard men's lacrosse team narrowly missed out on their first NJCAA national championship, falling in the championship game 17-9 to host Nassau. Now the Dragons start the 2023 season with a #2 preseason ranking and high hopes to return to the finals.
The Dragons will return several key sophomores including attacker
Zane Dalpe (Belle River, ON/Saint Anne), midfielder
Jack Slack (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge), and defender
Bryce Ferguson (Sykesville, MD/Century) as the core of 10 returners from last year's team. Those Dragons, bolstered by some high profile newcomers, will kick off their season against Army Prep on Sunday, February 26 at 1 PM in the friendly confines of the Howard CC turf field.Â
Howard will play their first four games of the regular season at home as top ranked rivals Genesee and Onondaga come to town on March 3 and March 12 respectively.Â
Howard's first regional matchup will see Anne Arundel come the Dragons Lair on March 28. Harford will be another game circled on the calendar as they come to Columbia on April 12 before the Dragons travel to CCBC Essex on April 19. A national championship rematch will take place on April 22 as the Dragons travel to Nassau in the regular season finale.
Anne Arundel hosts the regional tournament on April 28 and 30 while the national tournament will take place at Harford on May 13 and 14.
