Wilson Dominates to Defeat Baltimore City 85-60

Baltimore, MD - Playing against a tough regional opponent for a second straight night, the Dragons were able to overcome a halftime deficit to rout the Baltimore City Panthers in the second half by the score of 85-60. The Dragons improve to 16-5 on the season and are now 4-3 against Maryland opponents.

The early parts of the game saw both teams show explosive offense as they combined to score 45 points in the opening 10 minutes of the game. The back and forth momentum swings began there as the Panthers extended their lead to nine before a late Howard run pulled it back to a three point Baltimore City lead at halftime.

In start contrast to a well contested first half, the second half was entirely one-sided as the Dragons would go on to outscore their opponents 46-18 in the final 20 minutes of the game. Christian Dean (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) played nearly the entire second half with arguably his best basketball of the season as he brought new energy and life into the team. But the main reason for the second half dominance was O'Meech Wilson (Glen Burnie, MD/North County) as he ruled the paint all night long on both sides of the court.

Wilson led the team in nearly every category on the night with 19 points on 9-10 shooting from the floor. He was able to complete his double-double with 10 rebounds while also adding three blocks, steals, and assists. Emanuel Henriques (Baltimore, MD/Benjamin Franklin) scored 19 points as well while Jalen Bowie (Frederick, MD/Frederick) added 16 points and 5 assists. Dean scored 11 with 7 rebounds while Ryan Conway (Towson, MD/Dulaney) added 8.

The Dragons will get over a week to rest up before taking on nationally ranked (division III) #6 Prince George's on Friday, January 26 at 7 PM. The Owls are currently 12-3 on the season and have two players who currently average over 20 points per game. The series between the two teams over the last decade has been tight as the Dragons have gone 6-5 against the Owls with a win over Prince George's in January 2023 by the score of 72-67 to make it three wins in a row in favor of Howard.
