FAYETTVILLE, NC - The Dragons softball team kicked off their 2024 season with a doubleheader loss to Fayetteville Tech by the score of 15-6 and 14-3.
Raegan Perkes (Laurel, MD/Laurel) started the Dragons scoring in style as she crushed a home run to deep left center in the top of the second. Howard was able to scrap together a couple more runs in the third inning, but fell behind 12-3 by the end of the inning.
Jordan Bayles (Laurel, MD/Spencerville Adventist)Â hit a two RBI triple then later scored on an
Alyssa Kelly (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) RBI double to center field. Fayetteville would score three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and take game one after five innings.Â
Game two started with the Dragons falling behind early once again, but pulled together a run back with a Bayles RBI to score
Cassie Litchfield (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg). Howard added a couple more runs in the fifth inning as Perkes drove in Kelly and
Giana Sablan (Guam/Our Lady of Guam) hit a single to center to score
Taylor Pence (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg), but it proved not enough as the Dragons again fell in five innings.Â
The Dragons will continue their swing through North Carolina with a doubleheader against Brunswick on Wednesday, February 28 at 1 PM.Â
