Wisor Homers, Brunswick Sweeps Howard

BRUNSWICK, NC - Kat Wisor (Crofton, MD/Arundel) took one deep and did her best on the mound, but the Dragons were unable to avoid a sweep against Brunswick by the score of 14-5 and 13-5.

Howard went behind 8-0 in the first inning of game one before they were able to settle into the game. The Dragons scored two runs in the fourth inning highlighted by a Holly Ryan (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) RBI single to score Giana Sablan (Guam/Our Lady of Guam). Howard added three more in the fifth inning as Taylor Pence (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) scored Alyssa Kelly (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) followed by a two RBI double by Sablan to deep right field.

Raegan Perkes (Laurel, MD/Laurel) continued her hot hitting with a 3-3 game with Pence also coming through with a multi-hit game.

Game two saw the Dragons take a lead as Wisor crushed a two run home run to take a 2-1 lead in the second inning. After Brunswick answered with a couple home runs of their own to lead by three, Howard fought back in the top of the fifth as Sablan racked up two more RBI to score Perkes and Kelly. Wisor followed that up with an RBI single to score Pence as the Dragons tied the game at 5-5. Brunswick scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and added one more in the sixth to end the game.

Perkes reached base three more times with two more hits and a walk while Wisor went 2-3 with three RBI. Ryan added a multi-hit game of her own with a 2-3 effort.

The Dragons will complete their season opening swing through North Carolina as they go to Southeaster Community College-Whiteville on Thursday, February 29 at 1 PM.
