Dragons Down Trojans In Home Opener

Ellicott City, MD - The Dragons hosted the Trojans of Allegany College for their home opener and get the clean sweep winning both games with a score of 11-0 and 15-3.

GAME ONE

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third, where the Dragons were able to get on the scoreboard first after Reagan Perkes was able to score on a wild pitch.Continuing to trudge along, a number of singles for the Dragons made way for multiple runs. With the bases loaded, Gabby Sablan singled to center field for an RBI double, scoring Alyssa Kelly (Laurel, MD/Reservoir), and Cassie Litchfield (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) which brought the Dragons ahead 4-0. A final blow in the bottom of the third comes from Micah Howell (Columbia, MD/Atholton) who singles to centerfield, scoring Holly Ryan (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) before striking out. But the gritty Dragons switch the field once more, grounding out the Trojans twice at third base and once at short-stop.

Top of the fourth and Dragons on the ball once more, as Ryan singled down left field advancing Kat Wisor (Crofton, MD/Arundel) to second, and scoring Taylor Pence (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg). Howell with a smashing performance, crushed a single for an RBI triple, scoring Sablan, Ryan, and Wisor to put the Dragons ahead 9-0. Two more singles in the top of the fourth saw scores by Howell and Madeline Lackey (Manchester, MD/Manchester Valley). Kat Wisor (Crofton, MD/Arundel) takes the circle once more picking up her sixth strikeout and two hits by the Trojans that are caught in left and centerfield, stalling the Trojans 11-0 in Game 1.

GAME TWO

Trojans looked for redemption and got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. But an explosive defensive performance proved too much for the Trojans and the Dragons able to pull ahead 5-1, heading into the second inning. Allegany with no answer back to the Dragons output, and a couple of RBI singles for both Kelly and Sablan that put the Dragons ahead 7-1. Allegany only able muster up one run in the third inning, while Howard picks up seven runs, highlight by RBI doubles for Lackey and Bayles to make it a 15-2 game. Allegany pushed across a final run on the Dragons, before being lined out at short stop. A successful game two for Howard as they come out victorious with a 15-3 win.

Howard completes both games with 28 hits, 24 RBIs, and 1 error.
