Dragons Crack Top 20 at Hood College

Frederick, MD - Howard Community College's cross country team put together a stellar run at the Hood College Blazer Blitz, coming home fourth overall and cracking the top-20!

In their first showing against Region 20 competition, the Dragons showed the fruits of their labor. Having run an 8k for their first meet last month, the Dragons had no trouble in this weekend's 5k. The men's team cracked the top-20 and finished fourth overall, while the women's team finished sixth and cracked the top-30. Both teams improved over their results from the season opener.

Leading the way for the Dragons were sophomores Brandon McMillen (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) and Ryan Thibaudeau (Fulton, MD/Reservoir). The two finished 17th and 18th respectively, coming home within a second of each other. McMillen finished with a time of 14:13.1, while Thibaudeau finished with a 14:14.1. Pedro Egudu (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) was third for Dragons, finishing with a time of 15:31.6.

The women's team was led by Iyona Davis (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis), who cracked the top-30 and finished with a time of 20:24.6. Rashelle Buynum (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) came home in second for the Dragons with a time of 21:47.6.

The Dragons next race will be a return to Salisbury as they compete in the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday, September 28 at 2:00PM.
