Columbia, MD - Howard Community College's women's volleyball team split their first home tri-match of the year, besting Chesapeake College 3-0 while falling to WVU Potomac State College 3-0.

In their first series played at temporary home Atholton High School, the Dragons played their best volleyball of the year. All six sets played across the two games were competitive, with the Dragons setting season highs in kills and season lows in errors.

Game 1: Howard 3, Chesapeake 0
The first contest of the tri-match pitted the Dragons against Chesapeake College. In easily their best performance of the season, the Dragons swept the Skipjacks with 36 total kills to just 17 errors. Coming off their contest against Montgomery in which the team committed 51 errors, this was a massive improvement. The Dragons won their sets 25-19, 25-21. and 25-12.

Micaela Murray (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) led the team with 17 kills and 14 digs. Kayden Jeselskis (Baltimore, MD/Rosedale Christian Academy) recorded five aces, while Arianna Layne (Bridgetown, BB/Combermere School) and Mayoli Feliho (Jessup, MD/Hammond) recorded a block each. Cheyenne Ellis (Eldersburg, MD/Century) led the team in assists with 28.

Game 2: Howard 0, WVU Potomac State 3
Game two of the tri-match went very differently for the Dragons, as Potomac State's aggressive hitters ran wild on Howard's defense. Despite being swept, the Dragons kept their sets close, losing 25-16, 25-18, and 25-17. Each set saw the Dragons come back from a deficit to tie things up, only for the Catamounts to rebound.

Ariana Beasley (Columbia, MD/Long Reach) recorded two defensive blocks, Cheyenne Ellis (Eldersburg, MD/Century) led the team with 20 assists, and Micaela Murray (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) recorded 21 digs.
