Columbia, MD - Howard Community College's women's volleyball team dropped their fifth match of the season on Saturday, falling to Anne Arundel Community College 3-0.
The Dragons played tough against the Riverhawks in the first set, leading by as much as eleven at one point. However, a Riverhawks comeback ended the Dragons momentum. Anne Arundel snapped up a 26-24 victory, then rolled through the next two sets. Howard fell behind in both sets and never recovered, falling 25-17 and 25-12.
Despite being down two of their best defensive players, the Dragons still fought hard.
Abigail Leis (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) and
Micaela Murray (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) finished with five kills each.
Sarah McKenzie (Mount Airy, MD/Glenelg), in her first start of the season, led the team with 17 assists.
Ariana Beasley (Columbia, MD/Long Reach) finished with two aces and four blocks, while
Kayden Jeselskis (Baltimore, MD/Rosedale Christian Academy) finished with nine digs.
Next up for the Dragons is a match up with Hagerstown Community College on Tuesday, September 24 at 6:00 PM.
