Dragons Remain Undefeated on Club Day

Columbia, MD - The Howard Community College Dragons remained undefeated on Saturday, defeating the Allegany College of Maryland Trojans 3-0.

In front of packed stands on Club Day, the Dragons scored three goals in the final 15 minutes to put away a strong Trojans team. With their fourth consecutive victory to open the season, the Dragons are off to their best start since 2022.

The first half was a mirror image of Howard's last contest, as neither team scored. Howard had plenty of chances, out-shooting the Trojans 27-5, but none of their shots hit the net.

Frustrated by the lack of scoring, the Dragons continued to bombard the Trojans with shots in the second half. In the 76th minute, Howard finally found the net as Bryan Barrientos (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) scored off a pass from Sam Santos (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills). Santos would score himself three minutes later, and Fode Doumbouya (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) added an insurance goal with just three minutes to go. The Dragons escaped with a 3-0 win, having out-shot the Trojans 42-12.

11 different Dragons recorded at least one shot. Santos finished with 11 shots, five shots on goal, a goal, and an assist. Barrientos had six shots, five shots on goal, and his one goal. Darian Paz (Fredericksburg, VA/Stafford) recorded six shots, while Mateo Moore (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) recorded four shot and two shots on goal. Doumbouya had six shots, four shots on goal, and the games final goal. Goalkeeper Luke Ryerson (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) made seven saves.

Next up for the Dragons is a home match against Cecil College on Thursday, September 12 at 4:00PM.
