La Plata, MD - The Howard Community College Volleyball team had a rollercoaster weekend at the Southern Maryland Tri-Match, splitting their matches and earning their first victory of the season.
Game 1: CCBC, 1 - Howard, 3
In their opening match against the CCBC Titans, the Dragons dominated the first set, taking it 25-13. The Titans fought back to win the second set after a rotation mix-up for the Dragons, but Howard regained control in the third, edging out CCBC 25-17. The fourth set went down to the wire, with Howard ultimately prevailing 26-24 to secure the 3-1 win.
Game 2: Southern Maryland, 3 - Howard, 0
Unable to carry carry the momentum into their second match against host Southern Maryland, the Hawks proved too strong, sweeping Howard in three sets on Saturday evening (15-25, 10-25, 20-25).
Despite the split results, the Dragons can enjoy their victory over CCBC and the progress they've made so far this season. Showing continued signs of improvement, they'll look to build on that momentum as they continue their season.
Next up for Howard is the official Home Opener on Tuesday, September 10 against Montgomery College at 6:00 PM. The match will be played at Hammond High School.
