Herkimer, NY - The Howard Community College Dragons men's lacrosse team kicked off their final roadtrip of the season last weekend with a crushing 17-8 victory over Herkimer College.

The Dragons dominated the Generals from start to finish, leading by as much as nine goals at one point. The win moves the Dragons to 5-5 on the season.

A quiet first quarter erupted with goals as Howard scored thrice in the final minutes. Logan Foust (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal, followed by goals from Ian Smith (PIttsburgh, PA/Kiski Prep) and John Stubbs (Catonsville, MD/Boys Latin). Stubbs and Foust kept the party going in the second with their second goals of the game, giving Howad a 5-2 lead. Mitchell Dua (Mount Airy, MD/Loyola Blakefield) extended the lead with an unassisted score, and Mason Ambrose (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) scored twice in the final minute to make it 8-2. Stubbs closed out the half with his third goal of the game, giving Howard a 9-2 lead.

Herkimer began to fight back in the third, scoring three goals to close in. Luke Briggs (Windermire, FL/Windermire) and Stubbs each scored to keep Howard ahead 11-5 entering the fourth, where the Dragons cemented the victory. Foust scored twice, William Pesce (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder) added a pair of goals, and Stubbs scored his fifth to make it 16-7 Dragons. Cyrus Frid-Denikos (Elkridge, MD/Howard) closed out the contest with a goal in the final minute to secure the win.

Howard next faces the #2 ranked team in the country in Nassau Community College on Sunday to close out the regular season.
