Arnold, MD - Howard Community College's women's soccer team dropped their seventh-straight game to open the 2025 season on Thursday, falling to the Anne Arundel Community College Riverhawks 10-1.
The Dragons loss marked their fourth loss this season via mercy rule. However, for the first time since their contest against Potomac State, the Dragons were able to avoid a shutout thanks to a beautiful goal from
Kaily Ok (Hanover, MD/Marriotts Ridge)!
Howard fell behind 3-0 early to the defending Region 20 champion, though they were able to get some good looks in Anne Arundel territory. In the 16th minute,
Kaily Ok (Hanover, MD/Marriotts Ridge) stepped in front of a goal kick and sent it right back into net for the second goal of the season for herself and the Dragons. Howard's defense began to clamp down, hoping to spark a comeback.
Unfortunately, Anne Arundel's offense woke up following Ok's goal. The Riverhawks scored five more goals to take an 8-1 lead into tha half. A goalie change from the Dragons could not stop the Riverhawks from adding two more goals to wrap up to 10-1 victory.
Oak managed two shots on the game, while goalies
Bella Buscher (Glenelg, MD/Glenelg) and
McKinley Deshaies (Baltimore, MD/Oakland Mills) combined for 17 saves.
The Dragons next face the Carroll Community College Lynx on Tuesday, September 21 at 4:00 PM.
