Columbia, MD - It was a difficult afternoon for the Howard Community College women's soccer team, as they fell 8-0 at home to a sharp and organized Carroll Community College squad.
The loss drops the Dragons to 0-8-0 on the season, while Carroll improves to 4-2-0. Carroll struck early and often, opening the scoring in the 12th minute with Natalie Scespucha, who recorded a hat trick. The Lynx had another player record a hat trick in Lana O'Donnell.
Despite some flashes of resistance from Howard, including a couple of shots on goal from
Kaily Ok (Hanover, MD/Marriotts Ridge), the Dragons struggled to maintain possession and were repeatedly caught out on the counter.
Bella Buscher (Glenelg, MD/Glenelg) made several strong, impressive saves to keep the scoreline from ballooning further, totaling 15 total saves in the match. Still it was a long 90 minutes for a Howard side still looking for consistency in the back line.
Howard will look to regroup as they travel to face CCBC Catonsville this Thursday, September 25 at 3:00 PM.
