Columbia, MD - Saturday's Club Day game proved to be the best showing yet for the Howard Community College Dragons, as they just fell short of the Garrett College Lakers 3-0.
Howard's defense played their best game of the season so far, holding Garrett to just 18 shots and three goals. New keeper
Bella Buscher (Glenelg, MD/Glenelg) was outstanding in her debut, making 12 saves and even contributing on offense with three shots on goal.
The Dragons offense was able to control the ball and keep possession deep in Garrett territory throughout Saturday's game.
Kaily Ok (Hanover, MD/Marriotts Ridge) and
Gabbie Taylor (Sykesville, MD/Atholton) both managed a pair of shots against the Lakers, but stout goalkeeping from Garrett's Kayla Moore kept the Dragons out of the net. However, the eight total shots and six total shots on goal from the Dragons were the highest this season.
While the first win of the year will have to wait, the Dragons continue to improve each week. Their next challenge is Division I powerhouse Hagerstown on Tuesday, September 11 at 2:00 PM.
