Columbia, MD - Carson Feeser scored a first half hat trick, then added a fourth goal in the second to help Howard roll over the Garrett College Lakers 7-2 Saturday afternoon.
The Dragons dominated Garrett on the score sheet, out-shooting the Lakers 42-11. 15 different Dragons recorded at least one shot in an offensive explosion.
Feeser struck quickly in the fifth minute, scoring off a pass from
Lucas Britos. Ten minutes later, the sophmore landed another off a pass from
Jackson Costell. Leading 2-0, the Dragons dug in defensively against a Garrett response, but quickly regained possession. Feeser and Britos teamed for another goal in the 22nd, giving Howard a 3-0 lead heading into the half.
Feeser completed his day in the 50th minute, scoring his fourth goal of the game off a
Nelson Hernandez pass to make it 4-0 Dragons.
Yeabsira Tesfaye joined the fun when he scored off a crossing pass from
Kiar Sani to make it 5-0 in the 52nd minute. Garrett finally responded in the 59th minute, as Elijah Zapata snuck a corner shot past keeper
Julian Gugino.
Hernandez would call game in the closing minutes, scoring two goals off passes from Tesfaye and
Eben Koffi in the 64th and 78th minute respectively. Garrett got one last goal on the board in the 88th minute when Lucas Alonso Garcia launched a deep shot past Gugino, but it was too late for the Lakers to mount a meaningful comeback.
Feeser finished his massive day with seven shots, five shots on goal, and four goals. Hernandez had six shots, four shots on goal, two goals, and an assist, while Britos had six shots, five shots on goal. and two assists. Gugino made four saves, including a lunging save early in the second half to deny a wide open shot for Garrett.
The Dragons next face the College of Southern Maryland on Tuesday, October 6 at 4:00 PM.
