Oga Scores Double-Double as Dragons Completely Dominate!

Youngwood, PA - Howard Community College's women's basketball put on a dominant performance on Saturday, rolling past Westmoreland County Community College in a decisive blowout win that showcased energy, depth, and execution from start to finish.

Howard set the tone early, jumping out to a quick lead behind aggressive defense and efficient offense. The first quarter charge was led by London Galbraith (Washington, D.C./Friendship Collegiate Academy) off the bench. She had ten points in the first, and finished as the leading scorer with seventeen points, while leading the team in assists with four.

Constant pressure forced turnovers, with the Wolfpack totaling 39 for the game. Howard turned these mistakes into easy scoring opportunities in transition. The ball moved well on offense, leading to high-percentage shots and a steady build of momentum. Savannah Price (Woodbridge, VA/Freedom) was another Dragon in double figures with eleven points and four assists. At halftime the score read 34-20.

As the game progressed, Howard continued to control every aspect of play. Strong rebounding came from Emmanuella Oga (Randallstown, MD/Randallstown) who had a double double, grabbing twelve rebounds and scoring ten points, along with five steals. Mckenzi Walters also had double digit rebounds, coming down with ten herself.

Contributions came from across the lineup as Howard steadily extended the lead. In utter dominating fashion, Naomi Williams (Odenton, MD/Meade) earned eleven points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Jolie Hamilton (Baltimore, MD/Forest Park) had her third highest scoring game of the season with fourteen points and eight rebounds. Lamees Bazzi (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) totaled her season high in points, steals, and rebounds with seven points, eight rebounds, and three steals.

This was an amazing team win as it seemed like the Dragons could do no wrong, outscoring the Wolfpack 55-12 in the second half. The blowout win over Westmoreland highlights Howard's never-give-up mentality as they re-enter the win column. The now 13-13 Dragons face off against Allegany College of Maryland on Wednesday, February 11 for their next match, starting at 5:00 PM.
