Monaca, PA - Howard Community College's women's basketball battled throughout, but ultimately fell to the Community College of Beaver County Titans 75-61 despite a determined effort.
The Titans came out strong with a 7-0 run to start the game. Beaver County brought energy, competing on both ends of the floor and looked to establish a rhythm early. The offense found moments of success through ball movement and perimeter shooting, making six threes alone in the first quarter. Beaver County was able to capitalize on key possessions to gain momentum, and led 28-10 in a lopsided first quarter.
As the game progressed, Howard continued to fight, answering runs with strong effort and refusing to back down. The team showed resilience, working to close the gap with timely baskets and defensive stops. The Dragons managed to outscore Beaver County in the second quarter 19-18. London Galbraith (Washington, D.C./Friendship Collegiate Academy) was the second leading scorer off the bench with eleven points.
Despite the push, Beaver County maintained control by converting key shots and limiting Howard's opportunities down the stretch. Savannah Price (Woodbridge, VA/Freedom) was the driving factor to keeping Howard in the game. She totaled her second highest scoring game of the season with 24 points and accounted for all of the Dragons' threes, making six from beyond the arc to tie the single-game three-point record.
The Dragons tied or outscored the Titans in the remaining three quarters, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit they were faced with early. The first quarter from the Titans was too overwhelming and the final score read 75-61. The result did not go in Howard's favor, though they would have the chance to get back in the win column on Saturday with a showdown with Westmoreland County Community College.
