The Howard Community College Track Team open their outdoor season at a chilly Salisbury University this past Saturday. This meet serves as an early season test to see where the students are in their development for the upcoming season. The women and the men each placed 3rd as a team.
The women's team produced several early season qualifiers for the national meet being held the second week in May. The students and relays who qualified are:
100 meters: Shade Jones (Vestal, NY, Vestal High School) and Taaj Clark (Fort Meade, MD, Centennial High School) 800 meters: Amani Jones (Columbia, MD, Oakland Mills)5K: Maggie Niland 4x100 Relay
4x400 Realy
The men had a good meet as well with several qualifiers.
400 meters: Alex Hardman (Denton, MD, North Caroline High School) 4x400 Relay
The Dragon will travel to Lynchburg College the weekend of March 18th - 19th for their invitational. There is hope that some warmer temperatures along with a bit of work will continue to produce more qualifiers for May.
