Hickory, NC - The final regular season meet of the season was the
Pedro Egudu (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) show last Saturday, as the sophomore finished third in the men's decathlon!
A late entrant to the LR Last Chance Meet, Egudu put together a solid performance in ten different events. This was Egudu's third decathlon of the season, having finished sixth in his debut at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational and first at the Region 20 Championships.
Egudu's best result in the events was second in the 1500m, finishing with a time of 4:53.05. He came home third in the long jump with a distance of 6.48m, then fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.77m. Egudu came home fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 34.95m, fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.10m, and fourth in the dicus throw with a distance of 27.67m. Egudu finished fifth in both the 400m dash and the shot put, with a time of 52.83 seconds in the former and a distance of 9.53m in the latter. The 110m hurdles saw Egudu finish sixth with a time of 18.61 seconds, and he ended the evening with an eighth place run in the 100m dash, coming in with a 11.75 second run.
Egudu and the Dragons will head to Hutchinson, Kansas for the NJCAA Nationals this week, starting at 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 15.
