Columbia, MD - Both of the Howard CC League of Legends teams had fantastic nights as they swept through the night of conference action.
The Maroon Team started the night off right as they fought through an early, even battle before breaking through late led by
Alex Petrusan (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) and
Duy Phuong Nguyen (Kurland, Norway/Mailand videregående Skole). Game two the Dragons got out to a fantastic 10-1 lead for eliminations and carried that momentum all the way to a 25 minute win to take the match 2-0.
Minh Dang (Laurel, MD/Laurel) played a huge role in the match with 11 eliminations and 11 assists while
Abiola Monk (Ellicott City, MD/Wilde Lake) held the mid lane well with seven assists. Newly promoted support player
Daniel Finke (Laurel, MD/DeMatha) more than held up his role in both games as the Maroon Team has now won three of their last four matches.
The Gold Team took their turn against Hood College and it was a one-sided affair from start to end. Mid-laner
Andrew Wells (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) put on a clinic in game one with 23 eliminations while only getting knocked out twice. The bottom lane partnership of
Gene Patrick Dones (Laurel, MD/Laurel) and
Chris Schuyler (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) were unbeatable as they finished with a combined 6/2/35 (kills/deaths/assists) slash line. Game two saw the Dragons win in just 20 minutes as Samuel Danchick had zero deaths while pushing his top lane all the way to the nexus for the win. Dones picked up a healthy 17 knockouts and Wells added eight with Schuyler leading the team with 13 assists.
Both teams will take their two-match winning streaks into their most anticipated event of the season as the Maroon Team and the Gold Team will face against each other in NECC conference play on Thursday, October 22 at 8 PM in a match that will be casted by the NECC professional broadcast team.Â
