Columbia, MD - After an incredible first season, the #2 seed Howard CC Rocket League Team 1 fell to #3 seed California State University Dominguez Hills in a shocking 3-0 sweep.
A crazy start to the match saw seven goals scored in the opening two minutes of game one with the Dragons trailing 5-2. The chaotic beginning finally settled a bit over the final few minutes, but Howard CC was unable to comeback and dropped the opening game.
Game two was a battle of attrition for two and a half minutes before Dominguez Hills made a nice double touch to break the deadlock. Akaash Patel (/) answered back 12 seconds later on an amazing individual effort to dribble through the entire opposing team and score to tie the game. Howard took their first lead a minute later as a great steal by Jeremy Hotchkiss (Columbia, MD/Long Reach) led to a Logan Ghandi (/) counter attack goal. Dominguez Hills brought immediate pressure the other way and tied the game with 40 seconds left leading the game into overtime. In a tense overtime that lasted five minutes, an incredible flying save by Ghandi saved the Dragons briefly before the Toros put in the overtime winner to take game two and put the Dragons on the brink.Â
With their season on the line, the Dragons were unable to break through CSUDH, giving up the game-winning goal with 30 seconds left for the only goal of the game to end the Dragons run in the conference tournament.
