Columbia, MD - The Howard Community College Rocket League team took an early lead against the vaunted University of Alabama, but ultimately fell to the Crimson Tide 3-0 in the match.
In round one of the match, a new look Dragons team shocked Alabama with a
Jeremy Hotchkiss (Columbia, MD/Long Reach) goal in the second minute to take a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, that lead lasted for less than a minute as Alabama responded right back with three straight goals to take round one.
While the play seemed to be pretty even in the middle of the field, the finishing ability of Alabama shone through as they took the last two rounds 5-0 and 7-0 to sweep the match.
Logan Ghandi led the way with 788 points accrued in the match thanks in large part to five saves followed closely by Akaash Patel with four saves.
The Dragons' Rocket League program will start up NECC conference play tomorrow, September 18 as Team 1 faces Carroll University and Team 2 takes on the Hood College Grey team; both matches are slated to start at 7:30 PM.
