Columbia, MD - A complete team effort by all three Dragons pushed Howard past California State University Dominguez Hills 3-0.
A tightly contested match saw the Toros get ahead with an early goal that the Dragons eventually got back on an
Akaash Patel () individual effort. It was Patel who also broke the tie with a long range effort before setting up
Logan Ghandi ()Â to secure a 3-2 round one win.
Round two started better for the Dragons as Ghandi assisted a high-flying
Jeremy Hotchkiss (Columbia, MD/Long Reach)Â to take the lead. From there it was a battle of attrition as both teams missed opportunities to score while Howard put on some great defense to take the round 1-0.
The third round was again a bit of a stalemate until Hotchkiss saw a long range effort find the back of the digital net to get Howard ahead halfway through the round. Two minutes of heart pounding action later, the Toros scored a dramatic tying goal with 30 seconds left to send the tilt into overtime. It took just nine seconds of extra time for the Dragons to put in the match winner as a long pass by Ghandi bounced perfectly off the back wall for Patel to finish from close range to give Howard the victory.Â
Team 1 improves to 2-0 in conference play as they prepare to take on their fellow Dragons on Team 2 on Friday, October 2 at 8 PM in a match that will be broadcasted by the NECC.
