Box Score Cumberland, MD - Dragons fall to #20 Niagara County Community College on day one of the Personal Best Classic 60-55. 

Dragons proved they were ready to go against the #20 nationally ranked Niagara County with a 17-6 in the first quarter.

Niagara County sought to make a comeback in the second quarter with a 6-0 scoring run and now trailing by two. Seeming to find their rhythm, Niagara County with their first lead of the game at 27-26 after a big 3-point shot falls that brings the bench to their feet. Howard looking to slow the pace down and keep the control, and Thunderwolves a little too strong on defense send Nhaikyia Smith (Waldorf, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) to the line where she adds one to tie things up at 27 a piece. A final put back bucket by Jenna Ehlers (Philadelphia, PA/Solanco) adds two more for the Dragons and they go into the second half up 29-28. 

Howard falls behind 45-38 with under four minutes left to play in the third quarter, but Ehlers muscles up a shot in the paint that sends her to the line for the bonus and a Dragons comeback ensues. The fourth quarter begins and Lania Nick (Annapolis, MD/Glen Burnie) adds two at the line for Howard, and does her thing once more on back-to-back possessions driving through defenders in the paint and knocking down a three pointer to tie things up at 47 a piece. Howard with a fast break finds an open Sydnei Harmon (Largo, MD/C.H. Flowers) under the rim for a quick layup that puts them ahead by two. In the final thirty seconds, Niagara County puts up a quick floater and a regrouping timeout is called for the Dragons. Ehlers adds two more at the line for the Dragons, and an attempt to regain possession puts Niagara County back at the line. Ehlers with an opening to bring Howard back within three bounces off the rim, and a rebound and put back shot goes up by Harmon but just a tad bit too strong. A final foul on the Dragons sends Niagara County to the line once more where they're able to add one, bringing the final score to 60-55.

Harmon finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Ehlers followed behind with 12 points and eight rebounds. Carey finished with 7 points and eight rebounds while Nick also finishes with 7 points and four rebounds. Smith finishes with 6 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Asaani Offer (Annapolis, MD/Catonsville) added six points and 5 rebounds, and Kayla Allen (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) closes things off with 3 points and three rebounds.

The final day of the Personal Best Classic will finish with the Dragons facing off against the hosts Allegany College of Maryland on Sunday, November 12 at 4 PM. The Trojans are 1-1 on the season and also suffered a loss to the Thunderwolves, falling 42-88.
