Salisbury, MD - The Howard Community College Dragons wrapped up their first meet of the season on Saturday as they participated in the 37th Annual Don Cathcart Invitational at Salisbury University.
The Dragons performed well in their first meet of the season, with the men's team finishing sixth in team scores while the women's team finished ninth.
Samuel Venegas (Silver Spring, MD/James Hubert Blake) led the way for the Dragons, finishing 50th overall in the men's 8k with a time of 29:48.90. Venegas was the only Dragon to set a sub-30 minute time.
Jayden Gallion (Glendale, MD/CMIT Academy) nearly joined him, finishing 58th overall with a time of 30:42.40, while
Ben Fry (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) was third fastest of the Dragons with a 31:18.70.
On the women's side,
Aniya Clerisier (Orlando, FL/Wilde Lake) led the Dragons with a 32:32.90, good enough for 76th overall in the race.
Katy Spence (Jessup, MD/Meade) finished right behind her teammate in 77th with an identical time of 32:32.90, while
Taneya Watson (Bowie, MD/CMIT Academy) was third across the line with a 34:45.30.
The Dragons next meet will be the WVU Golden Ram Invite on Saturday, October 11 at 9:00 AM!
