Columbia, MD - After a long summer break, the 2026-27 athletics season at Howard Community College is finally ready to begin.

The week of August 10-16 marks the start of fall and winter practices, and the first preseason contests of the season will cap off the week.

Women's Volleyball Kicks Off Season
The 2026-27 season begins with women's volleyball, who partake in a preseason tournament at Hagerstown Community College this Saturday, August 15. The Dragons will face three Region 20 opponents in Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, Anne Arundel Community College, and Hagerstown Community College as they tune up for the start of the regular season in September.

This tournament will be part of the Play4Kay initiative, with all proceeds going towards the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. A skills clinic will be held alongside the tournament.

• Men's soccer begins their season with the annual Burgundy & Gold Intersquad Scrimmage, before heading to Indianapolis for the Midwest JUCO Showcase where they will face two nationally ranked opponents in Schoolcraft College and Northeast Community College to begin their season.
