Relay Runners Take Center Stage at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, PA - Howard Community College's men's track & field team headed to historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia for the annual Penn Relays last weekend!

Competing on sacred ground in the track community, the Dragons competed in multiple relays races, taking fifth overall in the men's 4x400m on Saturday. The event marked a good tune-up for the Dragons as they prepare for the NJCAA Nationals in May.

Highlights:
  • Howard's main highlight was the men's 4x400 Eastern relays. The Dragons entered a team of Divine Rice (Columbia, MD/Long Reach), Aiden Moore (Beltsville, MD/St. Vincent Palotti), Larry Brent (Columbia, MD/St. Vincent Palotti), and Matthew Calinda (Hanover, MD/Meade), finishing third in their heat race with a time of 3:19.51. The time was good enough to qualify the Dragons for Saturday's main event, where they finished fifth overall with a time of 3:22.65.
  • The Dragons came home sixth in their heat for the men's 4x100m college relay, with the team of Rojae Campbell, Aiden Moore (Beltsville, MD/St. Vincent Palotti), Nazeer England (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake), and Divine Rice (Columbia, MD/Long Reach) finishing with a time of 42.81.
  • Teh Wessah represented the Dragons only field event in the men's triple jump. Wessah would make the top-20, with a 13.44m as his longest jump
