Fairfax, VA - With one week to go before the 2026 Region 20 Championships, the Howard Community College Dragons headed to George Mason University for the Dalton Ebanks Invitational for a last-minute tune-up.
The Dragons looked to solidify their rosters for the upcoming Region 20 title meet, with several key contributors setting new personal bests. The experience gained from the meet will help in the long-run as the Dragons look to claim their second Region 20 title in the last three years.
Highlights:Â
- Caleb Adams (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake), traditionally a long sprinter, got a chance to try out sprints in the men's 100m dash. Adams did well, finishing with a time of 10.88
- Roy Brooks-Foster (Millersville, MD/Old Mill) continued his good form with another strong showing in the men's 100m dash, finishing with an 11.11.
- Katy Spence (Jessup, MD/Meade) set personal records in both her events over the weekend. Spence ran a 12.66 in the women's 100m dash and a 15.92 in the women's 100m hurdles.
- Taneya Watson (Bowie, MD/CMIT Academy) was second for the Dragons in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.77. Watson also participated in the long jump, setting a distance of 4.48m.
- Evan Taylor (Baltimore, MD/Mount Saint Joseph) returned to good form over the weekend, setting a personal best in the men's 400m race with a time of 50.86
- Daniel Warner (Marriottsville, MD/Marriotts Ridge) set a personal best in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 17.12.
- Chancellor DeRosier (/), making his first attempt in the triple jump in two years, placed fifth in the finals with a distance of 13.88m. DeRosier will be one of the heavy favorites to win the triple jump in the upcoming Region 20 championships.
