Columbia, MD - In the most climactic match of the Esports season thus far, the Howard Dragons Overwatch team was edged out 2-1 against Central Methodist University.

The first few minutes of the match saw Central Methodist run roughshod through the Howard defense, but the Dragons were able to pull off a crucial stand to prevent the Eagles from getting all three points. The teams switched sides and Howard executed a picture perfect attack to get all three points and take the first game 3-2.

Howard started on defense again in the second game, and came within 30 seconds of completely shutting out the Eagles, but a last gasp aggression gave Central Methodist all the momentum they needed to take the three points. The Dragons took the first point easily when the sides flipped, but labored through the second point and were shut down at the final choke point to give Central Methodist the game two win 3-2.

In the final map of the match, a capture the area game saw Howard win the first point but drop the second point. On the winner-take-all third point, Howard was able to take control first but Central Methodist answered back quickly and held out to win the round, game and match.

The Dragons will now prepare to take on local rivals Hood College on Wednesday, October 7 at 6 PM for their next NECC conference match.
