Columbia, MD - In one of the closer sweeps the game can offer, the University of California-Davis Aggies were able to push their way past a resilient Howard CC Overwatch team by the score of 3-0.
In the first map as a control game in Busan, the Aggies rushed to capture the point first before the Dragons set them ablaze to take control. UC Davis fought right back and cleaned out Howard to capture the point and hold on. The second point was hotly contested and changed ownership numerous times before the Aggies finally were able to assert control and win the first game.
The second map was the hybrid Blizzard World where the Dragons began on offense. While the initial point was a struggle to capture, eventually the Dragons took the momentum all the way to earning all three points with two minutes left on their clock to take a commanding lead. A similar story occurred when the teams switched sides as Howard nearly held the Aggies in a shutout, but were finally overrun and UC Davis took all three points with just over a minute left on their timer. In the overtime period, UC Davis crushed through the Howard defense and swept through to get the three points while holding the Dragons scoreless to take the second game.Â
The third map of escort at Dorado saw the Dragons mount a valiant defense but caving into the Aggies with just six seconds left on the clock. When the sides switched, the Dragons were unable to get more than a single point and dropped the third map for a 3-0 sweep.
Howard CC will get back in NECC conference action on Tuesday, February 18 as they take one the University of British Columbia Okanagan in the Dragons first match against a Canadian university.
