Columbia, MD - Howard Community College is pleased to announce that three student-athletes from the Dragons' softball program have been named to the 2026 NJCAA Region 20 Division II All-Region team.
Sophomores
Marissa Webb and
Taylor Pence, along with freshman
Gianna Peluso, were named to the All-Region 20 teams. Webb made first team, while Peluso and Pence were named to the second team.
Webb served as the Dragons duel-threat superstar, leading the team in home runs and strikeouts. She finished her year at the plate with a .477 batting average, and OPS of 1.539, 61 hits, 16 extra-base hits, 16 home runs, an 40 RBIs. At the mound, Webb went 10-8 as a starter with a team-leading ERA of 4.83 and 91 total strikeouts. In the field, Webb recorded 103 total putouts, second most on the team and the most for non-catchers. Her fielding percentage of .958 made her one of the most efficient defensive players in Region 20.
Pence, playing in her third season with the Dragons after an ACL tear last year ended her original sophomore season, was the Dragons' veteran leader. She finished the season with a batting average of .392, an OPS of .965, 49 total hits, seven extra-base hits, two home runs, and 21 RBIs. Pence had a Joe DiMaggio stretch of 15 games with at least one hit midway through the season, and was an integral part of the Dragons playoff run. On defense, Pence anchored the middle infield, finishing the season with 55 putouts and a team-high 76 assists at both shortstop and second base.
Peluso shined in her freshman campaign, leading the Dragons in batting average with a .485 on the year. She finished the season with an OPS of 1.499, 66 total hits, 21 extra-base hits, eleven home runs, and 45 total RBIs. Peluso anchored the outfield for the Dragons, recording 58 total putouts in centerfield. Her achievements in year one netted her a scholarship with NCAA Division II Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida for the 2027 season.
